Elliot Hall and Rapunzel are a Bristol-based (UK) duo playing country/folk/americana music – all original songs written and played on guitars, mandolin, harmonica and harmonised male/female vocals. Elliot Hall won Bristol’s prestigious The Viper songwriter competition, and Sarapunzel Skye was formerly signed to Western Star records with her previous rockabilly trio. Compared with The Civil Wars, Martha Wainwright, The Handsome Family and Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris, Elliot Hall and Rapunzel – who are becoming legendary for their all-in-black achingly honest performances, and Sarapunzel’s mane of long blonde hair – have recently recorded a debut album ‘Stick or Twist’ produced by Portishead’s Jim Barr.

A perfectly weighted three-piece dispensing precision rock full of space and dynamics with a pysch groove that’s undercut by sharp guitar, and vocal lines that never settle for an obvious pattern. Their songs progress as unpredictably as jazz, but with hints of melody that never quite get lost in the rubble of breakdown. Big on the festival circuit, these guys are not to be missed! Free entry
